Addressing harmful use of alcohol is essential to realising the goals of the UN Political Declaration non-communicable diseases (NCDs)
Leading up to the UN High Level Meeting on Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases (NCD), the Global Alcohol Policy Alliance has issued a brief positioning alcohol firmly in the NCD agenda.
The Global Alcohol Policy Alliance brief on NCDs points out that addressing harmful use of alcohol is essential in moving forward the agenda to meaningfully impact on NCDs by highlighting the strong linkages between alcohol and several of the main NCDs of interest and also to indicate the availability of interventions that have been documented to have an impact on reducing the burden of alcohol on public health.
